Bicycle Accidents
While riding a bike, the bicyclist has the same legal right as the drivers of a motor vehicle. Unfortunately some motor vehicle drivers so not share the road with the bicyclist like they are supposed to causing a serious accident. These accidents often occur when the driver is riding to close to the bicyclist, the driver makes a sudden right hand turn while the bicyclist is on the right shoulder, and when the driver makes a left hand turn without using their signal in front of a bike.
What you may not know is that bicyclist’s must follow the same “rules of the road” as do motorists. That means that when someone is riding a bike they must follow the same laws as people driving a motor vehicle. This includes yielding to pedestrians, staying off the sidewalk (riding on the road), and obey traffic signals and controls.
Boat Accidents
The United States Coast Guard define a “boating accident” as one of the following three scenarios: A boat passenger dies or becomes seriously injured A boat passenger disappears and death or injury is suspected A vessel causes or sustains damage There are several common causes of boating accidents.
- 1/3 of boating accidents are caused by intoxication of the person operating the boat. Because these statistics are so high, all states have made a law criminalizing intoxication while operating a boat (BUI). States impose heavy fine and/or incarceration for such offense.
- Weather Conditions: Severe weather conditions such as heavy rain storms can cause difficulty in navigation of the boat causing collisions and unavoidable accidents. Also, heavy rainstorms may keep the boat to stay upright and afloat. In addition, under certain weather conditions, lightning may electrocute a passenger and/or strike electrical equipment aboard the boat. Also, if a passenger has too much exposure to sunlight, heat exhaustion or heat-related illnesses may occur.
- When using a motorized engine, toxic carbon monoxide is produced. If a passenger is exposed to high concentrations of the gas, it may cause death or serious injury.
- These boating accidents usually occur because there is an inexperienced individual in operation of the boat. They are not familiar on how to react under certain conditions causing such accidents described above.
Liability: A person is at fault for a boating accident if they were acting negligently. To prove a person acting negligently in these circumstances would be whether or not they conducted themselves as a reasonable person under the circumstances. A reasonable person in operation of the boat would adhere to all the safety guidelines, regulations, and be mindful of fellow boaters/passengers.

Subway Accidents
In New York City there are several million people who use the subway as the main mode of transportation to get to work, school, and run errands. There are several incidents that can occur on and before using the subway. One in particular are trip and fall accidents throughout the subway system. Specifics are very important in these cases because there are several staircases throughout the subway and that particular staircase is needed and the exact defects in the staircase that caused the accident.
Subways require maintenance throughout its use, meaning that many may need major restorations, while some only need minor restoration. Besides the mechanics of the subway itself, adequate lighting is also very important in a subway system. When dark, it may enable subway riders to be mugged or assaulted by a criminal. Subway riders might not be aware of the potential dangers and get hurt if warning signs are not posted in plain view. The following is a short list, but not limited too the types of injuries you can recover from subway accidents: Subway door injuries, Turn Style Injuries, Assault, Robbery, Rape, Electrocution from train tracks, and derailing accidents. Riding the subway should be safe for all riders of any age and the Transit Authority is responsible to keep it safe for the riders in New York and may be found responsible for any injuries suffered to subway riders.
